Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Kinvo (“Kinvo,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Kinvo mobile app and website (together, the “Service”). We try to collect only what we need to introduce you to a small circle of people nearby and keep the community safe.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and an identifier from your sign-in method (Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, or email and password). We never see your Apple or Google password.
Profile information
You provide profile details so we can introduce you to the right people, including:
- your first name and profile photo (or an avatar);
- your date of birth, which we use to calculate your age (we show your age, not your birthday, to others);
- your gender and occupation, if you choose to add them;
- a short bio and your interests; and
- your matching preferences, such as preferred group size, age range, distance, and whether you're open to new invites.
Approximate location
We use a coarse home location (approximate coordinates plus a general area label, such as a city or neighborhood) to match you with people nearby. We do not share your exact location with other members, only your approximate area.
Content you create
We store the messages you send in your circles, the plans and RSVPs you create, and the photos you upload. We also keep records of people you block and reports you submit so we can keep the community safe.
Device & usage information
If you enable notifications, we store a push notification token and your device platform. To keep the app reliable, we collect limited diagnostic and error information (for example, crash reports). Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for advertising measurement (including the Meta pixel and Google Ads). These are set only after you accept them in our cookie banner; you can reject them, or change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the site footer.
We also use PostHog to understand how visitors use our website, for example how many people view the page, open the waitlist form, and complete sign-up, and which campaign link they came from. If you accept cookies, PostHog may set cookies to recognize your browser across visits. If you decline, PostHog runs without cookies or other storage on your device and counts visits using an anonymous identifier that PostHog calculates on its servers, so we can still see overall numbers without identifying you.
Waitlist
If you join our waitlist, we collect your email address, the area you tell us you're signing up from (and the city, if you type one in), any marketing attribution details from the link you arrived through, along with the date, time, IP address, and version of the consent wording you agreed to when you signed up. We use this to tell you when Kinvo opens in your area and to send you occasional updates about early access and the product. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time using the link in every message.
2. How we use your information
- to create and operate your account and match you into circles;
- to power the group chat, plans, and other features of the Service;
- to keep the community safe, including reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, and moderating content;
- to send you notifications and important messages about the Service;
- to fix problems, improve the Service, and understand how it's used; and
- to comply with the law and protect the rights and safety of our users.
3. Location & matching
Matching considers shared interests, how close by people are, and everyone's age and distance preferences. A circle only forms once the people in it opt in. Other members see your approximate area, never your precise location.
4. How information is shared
We share information in a few limited ways:
- With other members: people in your circle can see your profile (name, photo, age, and the details you add) and the messages and plans you share in that circle.
- With service providers: companies that help us run Kinvo, described below.
- For legal and safety reasons: when we believe it's necessary to comply with the law, enforce our Terms, or protect someone's safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Service providers
We rely on trusted providers to operate the Service, including:
- cloud hosting and database providers that run our backend;
- Cloudflare R2 for storing profile photos;
- Apple and Google for sign-in;
- Resend and Amazon SES for sending email (such as waitlist and account messages);
- Discord, which receives a notification (including your email address) when you join the waitlist so our team is alerted;
- Sentry for diagnostics and crash reporting;
- PostHog for website analytics; and
- content-moderation tools that help us review reported material.
Our website also uses the Meta (Facebook) pixel and Google Ads to measure advertising. These providers may process your information only to provide services to us.
6. Retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, circles, messages, and photos from our systems. We may retain limited information where required for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Your choices
- edit or remove your profile details and photo at any time in the app;
- turn off “open to invites” so you aren't matched into new circles;
- block or report members;
- manage notifications through your device settings; and
- delete your account, which removes your data as described above.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as the right to access or delete it. Contact us to make a request.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No service can be completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit access to it.
9. Children
Kinvo is for adults. The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used Kinvo, please contact us and we'll remove the account.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
